My Favorite People

Well, not mine, my list is too long - but Austin had an interesting list. We were playing on his chalkboard the other day and he wanted me to write down all of his favorite people.

It may be hard to read the names above. It reads (and I quote)

1. Josh Freeman (K-State's quarterback)
2. Jordy Nelson (Another K-State football player, and one that was one of my former students)
3. Gabriella (his sister?!?!?)
4. Mommy (and NO, I did not bribe him)
5. Papa (this includes both papa's)
6. Ashlyn
7. Daddy

So, to those of you who didn't make the list (my mom), sorry - I don't think it was intentional. Please don't take it too personally, keep in mind when we said prayers last night he wanted to pray for ceilings. Ceilings???

I also have been doing a bit of scrapbooking...I did a page of Austin (his 3 year page) and Ashlyn (her 2 year page) - nope, haven't gotten to Gabriella yet, but I promise I will get a page done for her soon! Last week was devoted to doing a page for a great friend of mine, Michelle, her in-laws' 50th wedding anniversary is next weekend and I did a page that they are framing and giving to them. I think it turned out pretty cool - I love the old wedding photos -

Gabriella is now walking - and it is hilarious. I know this is my third kid, but it never gets old when you see a kid that is just learning to walk. They think they are about the coolest thing ever. She gets so excited after 5-6 steps that she frantically starts clapping for herself and cheering which then makes her fall flat on her face. Very funny. I don't know what it is like to have all my kids walking at the same time, but I think it is going to be pretty nice. (except in parking lots of course, and restaurants, and really all public places, and at home, and well...hmmmm - maybe it's not so great to have 3 kids that know how to walk)

Here's what happens when your husband goes up to put the kids to bed. Yes, they are ALL THREE sacked out. Just one question, where's GABRIELLA??

I am now looking VERY forward to our little Texas trip coming up in March! Shawn and I are taking a 4 day getaway just the two of us to head down south to wear we started out. I can't wait! It is going to be so much fun. I have plans to hang out with old friends, go see the people I use to coach and teach with, go out for some beers, and just relax and hang out with my hubby. Can't wait! I better go ahead and thank our wonderful babysitters. How would we survive without you?!?!

It's now time for me to enjoy my glass of wine and watch the KU game with shawn and my dad.
Hope you are having the time of your life!

Here's a pic from the wedding...finally...more to come sometime in the near future! Isn't my sister a lovely bride? The flowers were amazing - love the dark red. (I'm the one to the right of the bride, most of you don't see me dressed up with curled hair and makeup - oh and I don't have 3 kids attached to my right leg)

We survived!!

Yes, the wedding is over, and yes, we all made it! Sorry to disappoint, but I have no pics yet. I don't have a single picture on my camera since I forgot to put a battery in it - yeah for me. The good thing about that is that I have 2 fully charged batteries ready to go in case something big happens that we need pics of. Anyway, on to the wedding recap...everything fell into place perfectly. It was a beautiful day - no snow - 50 degrees and sunny. Everything was right on time - didn't run out of food, cake, or even beer. It was awesome. As for my two little ones - the ring bearer (Austin) and the flower girl (Ashlyn) well, the went down the isle...quickly...very quickly...in fact they sprinted and Ashlyn left Austin in the dust. Ashlyn had a bit of a stomach bug Thursday and Friday so she wasn't in too good of shape come wedding time on Saturday - oh well...they were still cute as can be. Austin looked so dang cute in his tux and he was sooo excited for the wedding cake and the dance. When it was finally time to get on the dance floor he was almost in a comatose state while dancing. He wouldn't talk to anyone, just stood in the front of the dance floor in his own little world - it was hysterical - can't wait to see the video. Our friends Callie and Toby were our bartenders so that was lots of fun - love you guys! Now, about the bride...wow...Kimberly looked like a true princess. And her hair looked particularly amazing (I did it). Anyway, it was a great day had by all and I think I am still recovering a bit and can't believe it's all over. Now what? hmmmmm I suppose it's about time I turn 30....yikes...only 19 more days. ugh.
Hope you are having the time of your life!

THREE

Yes, that is the number of days until my sister's wedding. Three days and counting! Well, really two days since Friday doesn't really count since that is the day of the rehearsal and decorating the reception place. So, that makes it two days if you are really counting...

Anyway, can't believe it's almost here - I think everything is in place and we are ready now to PARTY!! YIPEE! Not much more to write about. Sitting here watching "The Office" which is absolutely hilarious. Love it.

Now I am off to read my book - my friend Emily has gotten me hooked on the Shopaholic series which is hilarious. Easy reading and makes me laugh every time I pick them up.

Until after the wedding -

I hope you are having the time of your life! (I know my sister is!)

PS - check back after the wedding this weekend - I'll have pics of Austin in his little penguin suit! Yup - him and Ashlyn are the ring bearer and Flower girl. They are going to be adorable. We have been practicing walking down the aisle after church every week for the last month. I have no idea what they will do on the wedding day, but I'm sure it will make a good story. See ya!

One more thing... here's my cute little girls! They were reading books together and it was the cutest thing in the world. And notice Ashlyn's short hair - yikes! Had to cut off the baby mullet - against her daddy's better judgement, but had to be done in order to get it to grow right. Don't worry, the hair will grow back! And in the meantime she's still cute as a button - and hey, she still has more hair than her sister! ha!

And this is ME...

Here's a glimpse at my day - not sure who wrote this...got it in "forward land", but it must be someone that was writing about me.

Subject: CHILD ACTIVATED ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDERTo all the men in our lives who ask us what we do all dayCHILD ACTIVATED ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER Recently, I was diagnosed with C. A. A. D. D. Child Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. This is how it manifests: I decide to do the laundry. As I start toward the basement, I notice that there are cheerios all over the floor and my car keys are in the cereal bowl. I decide to pick up the cheerios before I do the laundry. I lay my car keys down on the counter, put the cheerios in the trash can under the counter, and notice that the trash can is full. So, I decide to take out the trash. But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the trash I may as well pay the bills first. I take my checkbook off the table, and see that there is only one check left, my extra checks are in my desk in the office/playroom, so I go to my desk where I find a sippy cup full of juice. I'm going to look for my checks, but first I decide I should put the si ppy cup in the refrigerator to keep it cold. As I head toward the kitchen with the sippy cup a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye -- they need to be watered. I set the sippy cup on the counter, and I discover baby wipes that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back in the bathroom, but first I 'm going to water the flowers. I set the wipes back down, fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote, one of the kids left it on the kitchen table. I realize that after school when they go to watch TV, I will be looking for the remote as they fight over who lost it, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers. I splash some water on the flowers, but most of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back down, get some paper towels and wipe up the spill. Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do. At the end of the day: the laundry isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm cup of juice sitting on the counter, the flowers aren't watered, there is still only one check in my checkbook, I can't find the remote, I can't find the wipes, and I don't remember what I did with the car keys. Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail...

Hope you are having the time of your life!

and the truth comes out

So, this post will be a bit of an inside-family joke, but I decided to post it anyway as it's still a good picture. My dad recently got a big box of old photos from his mom and I happened to look at them this evening. Quite a trip down memory lane!!

Is there something you need to tell me mom??? Surely that's NOT a CAT...

And this next pic is of my grandad settle (my dad's dad). I love this picture. Am I cute or what?!?! One of my favorites.

Hope you are having the time of your life!

Are you scared of me?

Here's a recent conversation at dinner time in the Turner house...

Scene: Grandma, Papa, Shawn, Austin, Ashlyn, Gabriella and I are eating a nice dinner. Ashlyn is standing on the bench rather than sitting.
Mom: "Ashlyn please sit down."
nothing happens...must not have been descriptive enough.
Mom: "Ashlyn, please sit on your bottom."
Ashlyn: "Are you scared of me mom?"
Mom: "No, sit on your bottom".
Ashlyn: "Mom, are you scared of me?"
Mom: "No, Ashlyn, I am not scared of you, please sit on your bottom while we eat."
Ashlyn: "Are you scared of me?"
Mom: "Ashlyn, I am not scared of you, but trust me, you will be scared of me in about 2 seconds if you don't sit down."
Ashlyn: "oh." and of course she sits down.

Love you Ash!
Hope you are having the time of your life!
