The holidays have officially arrived! yipee! I say bring on the turkey, although I am actually not really a very big fan of the turkey. or the cranberries. or the potatoes. I love apple pie though!! Of course, none of that stops me from eating a huge plateful - there's just something about it being Thanksgiving that makes the turkey taste better. We will be heading out to the farm (Shawn's parents) for turkey day and I can't wait. I'm a little upset at the weather though - it is suppose to SNOW on Wednesday, which is funny since it was 74 today. Awesome weather today - it was so great that we had "wine Monday" over at Emily's! Usually we have "wine Friday" when all of us moms get together at some one's house for a glass of wine while the kids play during the dreaded hour of 4 - 5:30pm. It was so beautiful out that we decided we couldn't wait until Friday. Tomorrow it is suppose to be even warmer so we already have plans to spend the whole day at the park with a picnic lunch - yeah! Just might have to have "wine Tuesday" too. And then it all gets shot down and is suppose to snow on Wednesday - yuck!
I realize I haven't blogged in awhile so let me fill you in....
The last 3 weekends have been centered around my sisters wedding as we have had a shower for her the last 3 Saturdays - one that I threw, one that Nick's aunt threw and one that her work friends threw. That's a lot of showering! And lots of fun! This past weekend I got to spend the night in Manhattan after the shower and got a whole two days off from the kiddos!! It was so nice! Thanks to Shawn's parents for watching the kids on Friday - you're the best!! And Shawn was super dad on Saturday - he took the kids for a 3 mile walk (all three of them) and then took them all to Costco for groceries and lunch (yes, all three of them) and somehow managed to get them all back home again. Go daddy!!
All my kids and Shawn had the stomach flu - what a great time that was!! By the end of it all I was wishing that I could get it too just so I could lay in bed for a day. I think I went through 6 bottles of Lysol - and you can see how much good it did since everyone got sick. Oh well. We are all doing fantastic now thank goodness.
We have raked the leaves a few different times, of course you can't even tell since leaves just come out of nowhere and land in our yard. Shawn had a good idea - we are just going to set up an industrial sized fan and send all the leaves down the street. The kids have had a blast playing in the leaves though so I guess it's worth it.
Went to Ali's surprise 30th party - holy cow was she surprised, her reaction was priceless - love that girl!! And for those of you that haven't heard - she's getting married!!! I have never seen her so happy - and I get to be a bridesmaid!! Can't wait for the big day.
One of our friends got back from Iraq recently safe and sound. And he said something I've always suspected. NOT to believe anything the media says - that there is so much good being done over there that is NEVER talked about. How is it that the media can only come up with horrible things to say, many of which are untrue? It makes me so irate that the media can turns everything around all the time. And that they will bash the government every chance they get - that does a lot of good, doesn't it? hmmmmm I'm getting all fired up just thinking about it, I can't even turn on the news with my kids in the room - it's worse than an R rated movie!! Ok, I'm done with this - this could be a whole weeks worth of blog entries.
As for the little munchkins that run around my house all day - Austin is doing great, crazy as ever and talking a mile a minute. His stories are VERY detailed and quite hilarious. Ashlyn is talking all the time now, constantly asking, "why?" and no matter what ends every sentence with the word "too". She is also in a big girl bed now since she was climbing out of her bed all the time. Hasn't seemed to phase her moving into the big girl bed - very smooth transition - she falls out a lot, but it doesn't even wake her up. One night Shawn went to check on her and she had fallen out of bed and rolled into the middle of the room - fast asleep. We should set up a nanny cam to watch some night. Gabriella is crawling and cruising around the furniture like woman on a mission. I'll be surprised if she's not trying to walk in another month. She's starting to try and stand up without holding on which always ends up in her falling down, but it won't take long! She's decided that baby food is sooo last month and will only eat "real" food.
That's all I can write for now - gotta spend some snuggle time with my hubby!
Hope you are having the time of your life!
